2008 December 7th Funny Car Test DayFollowing the Top Fuel round, two funny cars took advantage of the prepped track to run some licensing and testing passes at the Perth Motorplex. Darren Di Filippo licensed his Nitro Funny Car and ran the quickest pass in Australia at that time with a 5.25 second pass. The Greene Machine team were also out licensing, but had their day cut short with engine and clutch issues. You can check out all the photos from the test day here. 2008 Perth Top Fuel RoundThe 2008/2009 Perth Top Fuel round was held over the 5th and 6th of December. Approximately 230 teams entered the various divisions, and the Top Fuel final was won by Phil Lamattina. 2008 GoodFella's Yanchep PicnicEach year, the GoodFella's Hot Rod Club run a cruise to the Yanchep National Park, where they hold a show and shine on the lawns surrounding the Yanchep Tavern. The event is strictly limited to hot rods, customs and pre-1978 American street machines and muscle cars. 2008 GoldenState ChampionshipsThis years GoldenState Championships was one of the most successful in recent years for Western Australian Group 1 teams, with locals Robin Judd and John Zappia lining up in the Top Doorslammer final and WA's Jay Upton pairing up with New Zealand's Athol Williams in the Top Bike final. Zappia took the T/D win with a blistering 5.88 second pass to Judd's 6.14, while Upton ran a 6.57 second solo pass after William's bike refused to fire for the final. All the photos from the weekend are online now, including all the local classes as well as the visiting Top Doorslammer and Top Bike teams. 2008 Perth Street Scene Show'n'ShineThe Perth Street Scene Show'n'Shine is a new event for 2008, and was held at Zone 5, Perry Lakes on Sunday. 2008 Motorplex Drag Racing Grand OpeningSaturday saw the Perth Motorplex officially open their 2008/2009 drag racing championship season. Off to a flying start with finals wins in the first event were Neil Anderson, Brandon Pelliciotti, Brenton Baxter (in his debut meeting), Adam Ewing, Clive Hudson, Jodi Racco, Shane Wynd, Darran Bakranich and Robin Judd.
