The first of 2 rounds of the 2009/10 ANDRA Pro Series Top Fuel Championship to be held at the Perth Motorplex was run over the 4th and 5th of December, 2009.



A record 7 teams made the trip west for the 2 rounds, with both Mark Mariani and Bob Shepherd making their Motorplex debuts.



Friday night's 2 qualifying sessions finished with Phil Read on the top of the ladder, while Saturday nights racing saw Martin Stamatis take the win in the final over Phil Lamattina.

The Armadale Auto Parts Open Days have grown from a small gathering of a few mates from some of Perth's Hot Rod Clubs, into one of the bigger open air shows in WA. Over 300 hot rods, street machines and kustoms packed into Gillam Drive in Kelmscott on the 29th of November for the 2009 Open Day.

Photos from Sundays V8 Supercar event at Wanneroo Raceway are online now. This was the first year for a long time that I haven't spent the whole weekend at the V8 round, however a clash of dates saw me at the Perth Motorplex for their Retro Fest event on the Saturday.

The GoodFella's Hot Rod Club Yanchep Picnic, is one of Perth's best Hot Rod and Custom events, a strict cut off to keep the newer cars out ensures a great mix of hot rods, customs and classic streeters.



The Picnic is a very laid back event, with only one award, the Publicans Choice. Meanwhile, spectators and entrants have a choice of eating at the Yanchep pub, only a short walk away, or cooking at one of the many bbq's supplied.

The Golden States championships are a drag racing meeting at the Perth Motorplex featuring rounds of the ANDRA Pro Series Top Doorslammer and Top Bike championships. Over 2 days, around 250 drag racing teams hit the black stuff.



Jay Upton returned to form in Top Bike, running 3 passes below the national ET record over the course of the weekend and winning the final.



In Top Doorslammer, Maurice Fabietti debuted a new paint scheme promoting the new Holden Trade Club program and stunned the crowd by top qualifying with a 5.84 second pass. During elimnations, Ben Bray fronted up to the first pass against John Zappia and the pair ran one of the closest ever passes in the class with Zappia losing on the holeshot with a 5.83 second pass against Bray's 5.88 seconds. The final saw Robin Judd taking a 5.87 second win over Maurice Fabietti after Fabietti shut down on the start line.

The Perth leg of the ANDRA Pro Series Pro Stock Championship was held at Perth Motorplex on October 31st. This was the first time that Pro Stock had visited the Motorplex venue, and saw some of the quickest passes in the categories history, with John Barbagallo resetting the national ET record and Aaron Tremayne taking the win over Lee Bektash in the final with the pair also laying down the quickest paired pass for the category.

After a big weekend of Motorsport for Western Australia, where High Octane Photos covered the Fast Friday at the Motorplex, the Retro Fest for classic speedway and drag racing vehicles on Saturday and Sundays V8 Supercar racing at Wanneroo Raceway, I have uploaded a couple of photo previews to the site while I sort the full coverage.

The Perth round of the 2009/2010 ANDRA Pro Series Pro Stock championship has been run and won, with Aaron Tremayne taking the win over Lee Bektash after some awesome racing. In other classes at the meeting, John Zappia took a win over Andrew Minoque in Top Comp, Steve Flynn beat Dave Dequen in the final of Super Comp and Neil Anderson defeated Russell Cotton in Comp Bike.
