2008 Big Al's Poker Run
Posted by FIL on Saturday, February 09, 2008 (15:12:08) (2240 reads)
Cruises and Shows This year, the organisers of Big Al's Poker Run trialled some new entry criteria, restricting entries to pre-1978 vehicles, with the exception of American bodied vehicles, which were free to enter regardless of their year of production. This obviously was a risky move, with some suggestions that numbers would be down without the late model Australian vehicles, however, approximately 700 vehicles rolled through the gates at Burswood today, including some of WA's finest Hot Rods, Street Machines and Customs.

Unfortunately Darren Morgan's car refused to fire for the final after the team had rushed to change a blower, towing round to the staging lanes only minutes before curfew.

2008 January 14th Mystery Monday
Posted by FIL on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 (06:08:43) (263 reads)
Drag Racing This weeks Mystery Monday was a mystery indeed.... Why did so few cars turn up? There were more bikes than cars at the track, and only one driver nominated for the burnouts. As always happens when the numbers are down, those who did show got plenty of laps in, and went home rather satisfied.

2007 December 29th Nitro Funny Cars
Posted by FIL on Sunday, December 30, 2007 (11:45:52) (268 reads)
Drag Racing Last nights Nitro Funny Car meeting saw the Bailey Brothers, Rod and Ash, bringing Chemical Warfare from Brisbane, along with Ricky Steffans in Nitro Freak. This was Ricky's first race meet behind nitro motor, having previously campaigned in Super Sedan.

Ricky ran a 5.52 second pass in the last race of the night, and Ash Bailey managed an awesome 5.37 second pass earlier in the night. This was certainly one of the best Nitro Funny Car meetings in recent years, with the slowest pass of the night being Ash Bailey's spectacular 6.563 opening lap which ended with a fuel line coming off around half track. The two drivers managed 4 solid 5 second passes between them, with Ricky Steffans having to sit out the second round after welding the diff centre.
